Kudumbashree is the poverty eradication and women empowerment programme implemented by the State Poverty Eradication Mission (SPEM) of the Government of Kerala. The name Kudumbashree in Malayalam language means ‘prosperity of the family’. The name represents ‘Kudumbashree Mission’ or SPEM as well as the Kudumbashree Community Network.

Thus, what is commonly referred to as ‘Kudumbashree’ means two entities:

The Kudumbashree Mission

Kudumbashree was set up in 1997 following the recommendations of a three member Task Force appointed by the State government. Its formation was in the context of the devolution of powers to the Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs) in Kerala, and the Peoples’ Plan Campaign, which attempted to draw up the Ninth Plan of the local governments from below through the PRIs.

Kudumbashree has a three-tier structure for its women community network, with Neighbourhood Groups (NHGs) at the lowest level, Area Development Societies (ADS) at the middle level, and Community Development Societies (CDS) at the local government level. The community structure that Kudumbashree accepted is the one that evolved from the experiments in Alappuzha Municipality and Malappuram in early 1990s.

Kudumbashree community network was extended to cover the entire State in three phases during 2000-2002. The Kudumbashree network by March 2015 had 260,252 NHGs affiliated to 19,773 ADSs and 1072 CDSs with a total membership of 41,14,097 women. Kudumbashree membership is open to all adult women, limited to one membership per family.

This project is aimed to create women construction groups in the state who can take up construction of houses, buildings and roads. Three years ago, using CSR funds provided by HUDCO, training was given to 200 women in construction section. As a result of this training, many women started working actively in construction sector as masons/ workers. 5 women grouped themselves and constituted a construction group and at present they have successfully completed construction of more than 70 houses (in Ernakulam District)

Inspired by these enterprising women, and anticipating a huge shortage of labour force in near future because of determined government campaigns of mass housing (LIFE project of government of Kerala), it was decided to give training to women in construction sector so as to form labour contract groups of women entrepreneurs who can take up construction of houses of poor and needy, in addition to taking up bigger projects.

Training on construction activity for Kudumbashree members aims to provide skill training for various trades in the construction industry for enhancing the skill of the women in construction related activities such that a sustainable income is generated. It is envisaged to form one construction group in each development block and in each urban local body.

കുടുംബശ്രീയിൽ ഡെപ്യുട്ടേഷൻ വ്യവസ്ഥയിൽ 72 തസ്തികകളിലേക്ക് അപേക്ഷ ക്ഷണിച്ചു. കേന്ദ്ര-സംസ്ഥാന സർക്കാർ/അർദ്ധ സർക്കാർ ജീവനക്കാർക്കാണ് അപേക്ഷിക്കാനാകുന്നത്. തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തുള്ള സംസ്ഥാന മിഷൻ ഓഫീസിലേക്ക് പ്രോഗ്രാം ഓഫീസർ/ ചീഫ് ഓപ്പറേറ്റിങ് ഓഫീസർ എന്ന തസ്തികയിലേക്ക് ആറ് ഒഴിവുകളാണുള്ളത്. കുടുംബശ്രീ ജില്ലാതല ഓഫീസുകളിലേക്ക് ജില്ലാ മിഷൻ കോർഡിനേറ്റർമാർ (ആകെ 14 ഒഴിവുകൾ), അസിസ്റ്റന്റ് ജില്ലാ മിഷൻ കോർഡിനേറ്റർമാർ (ആകെ 52 ഒഴിവുകൾ) തസ്തികകളിലേക്കും അപേക്ഷ ക്ഷണിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. നിശ്ചിത യോഗ്യതയുള്ള വനിതാ ജീവനക്കാർക്ക് മുൻഗണനയുണ്ട്. വിശദമായ വിജ്ഞാപനങ്ങൾ കുടുംബശ്രീയുടെ ഔദ്യോഗിക വെബ്സൈറ്റിലെ കരിയേഴ്സ് വിഭാഗത്തിൽ ലഭ്യമാണ്.
